Our January 2011 Club Meeting was at Pappas Bar-B-Q on 30 January, at 2PM

The weather was fantastic especially for the end of January and everyone rode to the meeting in style - well almost everyone.  There was a larger than usual turn-out with many vintage Triumphs, a few Norton Commandos and even a Vincent Rapide.  Bev Bowen rode his Vincent Rapide C which was caught on video leaving the scene.

Most members arrived early as is the case when meeting at Pappas BBQ to take advantage of their excellent food and drink (mostly drink).

Chris Parry started the meeting with announcements of upcoming events. The date for the All British & European Car Day at White Rock Lake has been changed to Sunday, May 22nd.  Our February meeting will be February 27th at 2PM at Ed Mabry's race shop.  Click here for details.  Our March meeting is Sunday, March 27th at 2PM at Motorsports Ranch in Cresson in conjunction with the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association's Lone Star Classic (LSC).  Click here for more information.

The LSC will host the second round of the 2011 AHRMA road racing season. This is going to be the first ever AHRMA round in Texas.  Along with two days of vintage motorcycle racing, the sponsors have asked the NTNOA to put on a bike show similar to the one at our annual Lake O' the Pines rally.  Bid D Cycle is the main sponsor and Keith Martin asked Dennis Tackett to be the project manager.  Dennis is setting up work assignments.  He needs ten people to work Thursday, Friday and Saturday and ten more to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be the biggest day with the Bike Show.  Volunteers will work registration, parking, crash truck, bike show set up, ballot counting, and the award ceremony.  The club will receive 40% of the gate proceeds.  The club is responsible for the Bike Show along with the trophies.  In accordance with the by-laws a motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved for the club to pay for the trophies.  Dennis still needs seven more volunteers. If interested contact Dennis at dennistackett@msn.com

The 2011 Spring Hill Country Ride is Thursday, April 14 thru Sunday, April 17.  It will be in based in the middle of the hill country in Leakey, TX at the D'Rose Inn and Cabins. The NTNOA has reserved the entire complex and will have exclusive use of all the facilities. The event is for all members of the NTNOA and their guests. It will include rides through the Texas Hill Country and the traditional club group ride to the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum on Saturday.  Click here for more information including available accommodations.

Our newest member, Jorik Blom came to our meeting to describe a fund raising event he and his friend Mark Kirby are undertaking. They are going to be riding classic Royal Enfield Bullets from London to Chennai, India. The 10 000 mile trip will run from April 1st to the end of May. They are raising money and awareness for a Developmental Center called The White Lodge Center. Mark's son Conor was born with severe Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. It was only through the help they received from the White Lodge Center that they felt like they could care for Conor. They are in the final stages of bike modifications, trip planning, collecting sponsors and spreading the word. They have a web site at www.Enfieldstoindia.org. After Jorik's presentation Monica Parry passed a hat for donations in support of Jorik's cause, and club members raised $269.

Chris announced that Mike Mediterraneo is our club's new Membership Coordinator.
Many thanks to Mike for volunteering.

After the meeting many stayed to continue the camaraderie, some motored to Rick Fairless' Strokers and some to Willhoites in Grapevine.
